I believe our site was 2. We had a premium site with 50 amp, water and sewer backing up to the Welland River. We were relatively close to the street and you could hear road noise during the day. It quiets down at night. I don’t know why they didn’t put us away from the street since the park was practically empty. There were about 4 campers and 2 tenters.

Camping at Higley Flow S. This is an insane cliff-jumping place. Look at this YouTube video. Go down Mill Street to the end at the river and the gorge. Very confident that you should NOT swim here – no joke. Thirty-five foot falls on the West Branch of the Saint Regis River with a swimming hole at the bottom. To get here from Parishville turn north left on CR At the bridge, park on the left before you cross.
Careful, it is steep and footing may be loose.

The islands that hook southwesterly from mainland Florida are circumscribed in terms of growth not just by water and available land, but also by density regulations related to hurricane evacuations. Given those restrictions, several new resorts and a string of refurbished ones are proving that the Keys have nowhere to go but upscale. Two of those new hotels, including Oceans Edge, opened in January next door to Key West on Stock Island, best known for its commercial marinas and working class communities.
Technically, Stock Island, named for the livestock once corralled here, is one of seven islands that make up the city of Key West, though the scruffy yet vibrant island is unlike the boutique-and-bar-packed Old Town, as downtown Key West is known. Many of its rooms — spread over three-story white clapboard buildings — overlook a slip marina and six swimming pools. By day, guests can paddleboard and kayak at a nearby sandbar. The resort encourages guests to explore funky Stock Island with a smartphone app guide to local restaurants, including the Cuban dive El Mocho.
At another Stock Island marina, the Perry Hotel Key West opened in May, replacing a junkyard with rooms spread over a modernist, two-story building. The first newly built resort in the upper Keys in 21 years, Playa Largo, with hotel rooms and four restaurants and bars, replaces a acre trailer park.

Hurricane Sandy gave a terrifying preview of its fury Monday, knocking over a high-rise crane in the heart of Manhattan hours before the storm was even slated to make landfall. The massive shaft of the foot crane swayed in the air some 70 stories over W. Buildings near the unfinished condo skyscraper were being evacuated, but emergency workers said high winds would prevent them from securing the crane, which was plagued by problem seven before the storm.

We are happy to say that we were not disappointed! The campground not only had everything we look for in a campground, but was centrally located so it was an easy drive to all the activities we wanted to do! When we began planning our camping trip to Lake Placid, we found several very nice campgrounds that we considered.
But my husband always studies each campgrounds map, takes a look at the views from the campground, considers the sites back-in, gravel, cement, etc. This is a factor for us when we are staying for longer than two days at a campground. We decided that the large wooded sites in the Acre Campground side of North Pole Resort was what we were looking for. But — what we were most excited about was the Acre Woods section of their campground across the street where we stayed for four nights!
These are large wooded sites with full hook up, and hiking trails connecting to the Whiteface Trail. Just walking our dog around the campground seemed like a hike! We were happy that we could bring our Golden Retriever, Buddy along. The campground also has certain dog breed restrictions, and other restrictions and fees for the inn, cottages and cabins. Please see their website for more details.
Pulling our travel trailer into the main campground for check-in which is at the General Store can be a little tricky — but if you follow the signs, you will see the pull in area for your RV. If you requested a Good Sam Discount, make sure you bring your valid Good Sam card with you to check in.
